Adding Halloween to my Fall Decorations

So, I wanted to make the cute little "boo" signs I've been seeing online. I gathered my supplies. I got three small 4x6 black frames from WalMart for 97 cents each. I had some black cardstock for my letters and halloween paper for the backgrounds on hand as well as the glue.

I took the filler paper out of the frames to use as a template for my Halloween paper backgrounds. I made little tick marks on the side so that I could use my paper cutter to make my straight lines. (below).

Next, I used a cricut to get my perfect little black letters cut from my cardstock. I set it to 4 inches and used the DonJuan cartridge.

I took each letter and spread glue over the surface using an old artist paintbrush then covered them in glitter. I totally need to find a better way to do glitter. I didn't make a huge mess but would love a better system. Of course, I was catching up on my DVR'd Sing Off - that may have been distracting.

Look how pretty they're getting! Next, I glued the letters to my backgrounds and placed them in the frames. More glitter everywhere.

I took this opportunity to get my Mickey Mouse jack-o-lantern and my little spider candle holders out to complete the dining room table decoration. Simple, but cute!

Head to Head

Well, this Sunday in Fantasy Football Chris and I were matched up against each other. Right now I'm behind by 25 points and all I have left is Jason Witten (Tennessee Grad) in Monday Night football tomorrow. I think I'm toast. Which is probably good, men don't want to get beat by their wives in football things...even though Chris said he does want me to win! ;)

We enjoyed a Lazzzzy afternoon. I was supposed to make up my 10-mile run that I missed yesterday due to my brother's wedding this afternoon after church. It didn't happen. But, we'll get back on schedule this week for our 12 miles this upcoming Saturday which leaves us with one more Saturday run after that before our half on the 15th! Then it'll be work-out videos and no running training. That's the plan. That was also the plan after the April half.

Still working on finding work. Lots of friends and family at the wedding were curious about my status. I petitioned for more prayers and will continue to seek God's will for my life. Right now I don't feel very useful.

The wedding was gorgeous! Take a look at the bride and groom leaving the church...can't believe I didn't make them pose for a shot!

And here Chris and I are at the reception venue...wayyyy cute location with a beautiful barn for the dance floor. We're excited about the new Mr. and Mrs. and are looking forward to my younger brother's wedding in May.

And as a side note as I was taking a few of the tuxes back I heard a song that I've really enjoyed lately. Steven Curtis Chapman's Do Everything lyrics are very encouraging as I seek to do things that glorify God and further his kingdom. Without a job, I feel like my purpose is evading me. So check out the link to listen to song and view the lyrics. I hope you can find encouragement from them as well and find that whatever you are doing you can bring glory to Him!
"Don't ever forget to do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you, Cause He made you to do every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face and tell the story of grace..."

I gave it a Whirl!

So a "tailgating" party at our house for the first Tennessee game with our buddies Amber and Jake required me to experiment with a recipe I got from: TasteofHome which I linked up to from Pinterest - my new obsession, like many other women. Here's the photo of how my Chocolate Chip Dip turned out -
It was yummy!! Check out the link above to go to the original recipe. I did use low fat cream cheese in mine and served it with graham cracker sticks. I'm sure I'll be borrowing more ideas that I find and will be happy to share as I go along!

Major Points of the Day

1) Chris finished his first round in the Hooters event in Columbia, SC at +2. That's below the cut line right now, but he has tomorrow to move up on the board!!
2) NFL starts tonight. Chris and I have Aaron Rogers and Drew Brees respectfully as our quarterbacks in fantasy football. This is the first time either of us has played fantasy football...we're pretty excited about the season this year!
3) I went to a substitute teaching orientation today (that took forever) so I will be able to start subbing next week! YAYYYYYYYYYYY
4) Taco soup and football for me tonight :)
5) I'm addicted to Pinterest after one day.

Time to Fill

In between searching and applying for jobs, I find I'm left with time to kill, and too much time to think. My coat closet is organized and cleaned out - I now have a bag of jackets and such to donate, and as cold as the past couple of days have been I think I better do it now rather than later. My recipe and coupon folders are as straight as they've ever been. I have gathered all of the warranties and instruction books for our appliances and organized them into one folder. People, I'm running out of things to organize and donate! Only not really - I'm four years behind on my scrapbooking and since my wonderful mother-in-law used to be all about it I've recently inherited LOTS of scrappin' toys! It's been great. Here's a couple of pictures to show what I've been working on this morning: Parent's Day weekend at the Air Force Academy, David's first year...2007...four years ago. But, better late than never.

We went to Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs...beautiful! And chilly at the top! I still have to caption these pages.

Because of Chris, I've been able to see lots of places I probably would have never ventured to!

Rainy and Overcast morning

This morning (and yesterday too!) was cold! It went from super hot, 100 degrees on Saturday to under 60 today! Sunday after church I broke out all the fall decorations and "officially" lit the fall candles...oh how I love them and this time of year. Chris said it "smells like our house" because we moved in after our October wedding in 2008 and had those fall candles lit so that's why it smells like ours. It's still pretty windy and dreary around here after there was rain over the majority of the eastern part of the country this weekend. So, I'm enjoying my ac unit NOT running while looking for some job opportunities. I don't even want to venture out right now... But, Chris is on the road, going at a slow, steady pace in this yucky weather as he travels to Columbia, SC for a Hooters event this week. Before he left he said he hopes I get a job while he's gone...me too!!! In the meantime I'll continue to find things to organize!
