Chris and I have enjoyed the past week + a couple of days of him being home. He's been able to get some good practice and workouts in and of course scheduled in a couple of bike rides on the nicer weather days. Today, however, has been a wash-out and the rain is still coming.
While his practicing was deterred today, so was my scheduled run. At least my running partners (Shelly and Chelsea) and I decided last night we better max out (at 4 miles) in case we were rained out today. Last night was a good run...definitely real dark out when we finished, but we've got a 6 miler scheduled for Saturday morning. Our training is looking good. We have a milestone of a 5k two weeks from Saturday so that will be great motivation and we're getting pumped about our half marathon.
In the meantime, we'll keep up our training, I'll stay busy with work, and Chris will be working towards playing well in Tallahassee next week. First Hooters tour event info. coming soon!

Peach State Event
Have you ever had to re-tee after playing 5 holes? Well, yesterday Chris and the other guys experienced some sideways rain which put them in a rain delay. Unfortunately, they didn't start the day playing the ball up (where they can lift, clean, and place) so according to USGA rules, they can't start playing it up once play resumes. So, instead, the tournament officials decided to start the round over. So after playing his 18 (plus 5) holes, Chris finished at even. Click on picture for where he stands on the leaderboard. He is scheduled to tee off today at 8:57 et (so he should be out there right now!) Good luck Chris!!!

Snow or Sunshine...
The only thing they really have in common is that they both start with an S... Chris is enjoying the warm weather in Orlando and we're getting snow on top of snow in middle Tennessee. My week as a teacher went: early dismissal Monday, no school Tuesday, early dismissal Wednesday, no school today! I guess we'll wait and see about tomorrow. Chris, has a 9:18 et tee time today in a Peach State Tour event today at Kissimmee Oaks Golf Club. (Click the tour logo to link to the PSPGT site).A running update: I got an early Valentine's gift from Chris - a forerunner 305 GPS watch. With this weather, we've (me and my running partners) been able to use it once. Plans for a run tonight and Saturday morning!

FPGT: The Indian River Open
Chris played in a Florida Pro Golf Tour event on February 5th and 6th. He finished 5th, results can be found: FPGT Results Page So, that was a fun start to the year. But, the biggest news of all for this first trip of 2011 is... Skype is amazing! It's been great being able to see each other while we talk. And I've been able to check out his hotel rooms to make sure he's got a nice place to stay. I'm already looking forward to traveling with him this summer so I can read a lot of books and do my running all over. Running is my new sport (since Chris has one, why can't I?) with a goal of a 1/2 marathon in April. I'll post updates here as well to show how my progress goes. I'm really jealous of his temps in Florida right now when I'm running in the Tennessee winter. Chris is practicing and preparing for a Peach State tournament at the end of the week, so I'll post more about that later.
