Summing it up

So. Chris was leading going into the final round in Bentonville...which was crazy exciting. He grinded all the way through the round. The putts that were falling earlier in the week were coming up just short. He played so well and saved a few pars including 18 which he had bogied the day before. He worked hard all day and finished at +1 for the round, -12 for the tournament which placed him 4th in the tournament. I'm extremely proud of him and I think he ended up ok with it all :) It was a mentally taxing day but we are so thankful and we appreciate all the good wishes, prayers, support and congratulations.

After the round we grabbed some lunch with some other players and then headed to Fort Smith, AR. Parts of that town/city were interesting. We headed straight for the course he was going to play so he could scout it out a bit since he wasn't able to get a practice round in. When we got to the hotel we were tired to say the least and ordered in a pizza, hoping to rest before the Nationwide qualifier on Monday. See Holiday Inn pic on left. It was ok...glad to have just the one night there. Monday morning had a really early start so that we could get to the course in time to warm up for Chris' 8:30 tee time. This was a hilly course...the caddie had a little more trouble on her fifth day in a row - but for the record, she made it through. It's a good thing they had carts to carry us up the hills between a couple of the holes. After the week in Bentonville and the slow greens, Chris just couldn't get anything going at this qualifier. We were able to swing by the course where the Nationwide event is taking place so Chris could meet with his club guy and so I could see how cool those events are. Definitely not as extreme as the PGA set-up I saw in Memphis but I found it impressive still.

We then hit the road again to head to Miami, OK. (Not pronounced the same way as the city in FL). Another state, another tournament. We checked into the next hotel, see picture, very nice. So hopefully Chris will have another good week out here. Before coming back to the hotel to do laundry we stopped by Waylan's KuKu Hamburgers. Small town, good burgers. And it was a cheap meal which we both appreciated. Chris headed off to get a practice round in early this morning. It's been raining but hopefully he's getting some good practice since this is his first time at this event. I've just been hanging around the hotel...went down for breakfast...and of course trying to get motivated to do my work-out...no excuses today since I won't be carrying the bag for the next couple of days. Have a great day and wish me luck I'm going to try to find a Wal-Mart somewhere around here later in the day.
