The State Open is one of Chris's favorite events. He's participated in the event open to amateurs and professionals several times, his first as an amateur is 2003. I was able to come out after a day of school for round one along with my mom as he shot 1 under. Day two both our moms came out to support for a 3 under round. I took the day off to follow (and not carry the bag due to carts) the last round. He played well and ended up third lowest pro, one stroke off the low pros. He played the last two holes so well, going birdie, par.
Interruption of golf talk for a minute...I did complete my half marathon on April 30th as a young 26 year old...thinking the whole time how I'll never do one again. I signed up for another in October the very next day in hopes of an even better finish!
Back to golf. Chris leaves tomorrow afternoon/evening to go to Birmingham and stay with some of our favorite people, Stephen and Katy Hines and their beloved dog Jax, while he plays in a US Open qualifier on Wednesday. A qualifier for a qualifier...so we have high hopes! Stephen will be on the bag for Chris...what a duo, wish I could be there for that. I'll be finishing up my last week at SHS (still one more week of exams after this) before we head to Colorado Springs for Chris's brother, David's graduation from the Air Force Academy...the whole family is excited! After we'll head to TN to prepare for a busy summer! (And me on the road with him!!)
